Spring is in the Air

Spring is in the air…okay, well the air is still a little chilly, but the grass is turning green and spring flowers are popping up all around. Yay! πŸ™‚

I’m training for a couple of great races this spring that I’m really excited about. One is Miles for Maheny which supports children and adults with severe disabilities. The other is the Superhero Half Marathon and Relay where the proceeds go to the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation.

I’m also participating in the Five Boro Bike Tour. My girlfriend and I are renting hybrid bikes at the start of the race to save the hassle of figuring out how to get our bikes into and around NYC. It’s a 42 mile ride through the five boroughs of NYC. Sure hope the weather is nice! πŸ™‚

Add those special events to my usual running, biking, disc golfing, dog walking summer-time routine and I have a whole lot of fun activities to be excited about.

What about you? What do you like doing once the weather gets warm?

  1. The bike ride sounds great. I can’t wait to be outside all the time. March was very cold and snowy which caught me off guard (this is my first winter near NYC), I think it’s usually warmer than this.

No way I can ride my bike out here…. the hills are to long/steep for me (and my 20 year old mountain bike). I’m jealous for your upcoming ride!

  2. Wow, sounds like you’ve got some fun stuff planned. As for me, I’m just looking forward to the days when I can walk the dog without getting all bundled up.

    • Yes! Or actually wanting to walk the dog more than three feet out the door! πŸ™‚

  3. sounds like you have some fun races planned! what’s disc golfing?

    • Disc golfing is kind of like golf in that you throw from a tee and try to get your disc in a hole (really a basket) in the least amount of throws. There are courses in parks all around the country and it’s free! Actually one of my fav courses is in Golden Gate park – it’s 18 holes and a ton of fun! http://www.sfdiscgolf.org/
